OUR’s Deputy Director-General with oversight for its Legal and Consumer and Public Affairs portfolio, Cheryl Lewis, accepts her Women in Sustainable Energy (WISE) Award from Director of Sectoral Programmes at the CARICOM Secretariat, Ambassador David Prendergast. Ms Lewis was one of four women who received the 2025 award at a function in Georgetown, Guyana, on Friday, November 29, 2025. The CARICOM WISE Awards recognise women who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to promoting sustainable energy and have made a significant impact at national, regional, and international levels across the public, private, and civil society sectors.
OUR Deputy Director-General Recognised with CARICOM Award
(KINGSTON, Jamaica; 2025 December 1): Deputy Director-General of the Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR), Cheryl Lewis, was among the four women who received the prestigious CARICOM Women in Sustainable Energy (WISE) Award for 2025. The awards ceremony, held in Georgetown, Guyana on Friday, 2025 November 29, was the penultimate event of CARICOM’s Energy Month.
Ms Lewis was recognised for her work in the utilities and industry category.
In expressing her gratitude for the award, she stated, “My journey in sustainable energy commenced when I opined on the removal of the exclusivity for the development of renewable energy in Jamaica, and here I am today. I am honoured that my legal expertise and the multi-faceted experience gained with 22 years of energy-related experience in the energy sector and regulatory sphere are being recognised. Utilities are key economic drivers, and I am committed to ardently serve in nation building.”
