The Office of Utilities Regulation has determined that the rate payable by JPS to the customer for energy supplied to the national grid from the customer’s renewable energy facility shall be at the short term variable avoided cost of generation plus a premium of fifteen percent (15%) allowed for Renewable Energy. The short term variable avoided cost represents the short run marginal cost of generation, which reflects the cost of fuel used for power generation on a monthly basis. This rate is expressed on a per kWh basis by dividing the total fuel cost for a given month by the net system generation for the same period.
