(KINGSTON, Jamaica; 2022 December 07): Richmond Environmental Services Limited (RESL) has submitted a tariff application to the Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR) for increased water and sewerage rates.
The company is seeking an average increase of 244%. Additionally, RESL proposes to introduce a service charge to its rate structure as it had none before.
RESL further requested that a Price Adjustment Mechanism (PAM) be applied to its rates and charges. According to RESL, the new rates being applied for are necessary to reverse years of accumulated losses and ensure that the business can carry on as a going concern whilst providing an opportunity for planned capital and technological improvements, debt repayment and improved operational efficiency.
The last tariff increase granted to RESL by the OUR was approved in 2020 April.
RESL is a Montego Bay-based limited liability provider of water and sewerage services. The company owns licences for Richmond Development as well as its immediate surroundings.
RESL’s application documents can be found on OUR’s website: www.our.org.jm.
